ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team hosted cross-town rival Siena Heights University on Saturday night where the Bulldogs won in the closing moments of the fourth quarter.
Adrian came out firing in the first quarter, striking first with a goal from
Abby Malone off a smooth assist from
Madeline Turcotte. Just minutes later, Turcotte found the back of the net herself, giving the Bulldogs an early 2-0 advantage. Siena Heights responded with a goal, but Adrian quickly regained momentum as
Mariana Miller buried a shot to extend the lead.
The Bulldogs carried their energy into the second quarter, where
Zoe Weber capitalized on an assist from
Maggie Bean to add another tally.
Sarah Gross followed with a goal of her own before Turcotte notched her second of the game, putting Adrian firmly in control. The third quarter saw a lone goal from Weber, keeping the Bulldogs ahead 7-5.
Siena Heights battled back to tie the game at eight, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. With just 1:47 left on the clock, Malone delivered in the clutch, netting a crucial go-ahead goal. But Adrian wasn't done yet,
Kacie Woodall provided the insurance with a minute remaining, sealing a historic victory. With the 10-8 win, Adrian secured its first-ever victory over Siena Heights, marking a milestone moment for the program.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, March 29 where they will host Mount St. Joseph University at 4:00 PM
