ALMA, Mich. - The Adrian College baseball team opened up MIAA play at Alma College on Thursday afternoon where the Bulldogs fell short 5-4 in a thrilling 14 innings. Adrian now moves to 8-11 and 0-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian struck first in the top of the second when Jake Burns blasted a double, driving in three runs to give the Bulldogs an early 3-0 lead. However, Alma responded quickly, answering back in the bottom of the second to seize a 4-3 advantage.

The game remained a back-and-forth affair until the top of the sixth when Ryan Davis delivered a clutch single, scoring Nic Bruder to tie the game at 4-4. Both teams then battled through tense innings, sending the game into extra frames.

In the 13th inning, Adrian pulled ahead as Rolando Jimenez delivered a sacrifice fly, bringing Jack Boike home from third to give the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead. Alma refused to go down without a fight, answering with a run in the bottom of the 13th to keep the game alive.

In the 14th inning, Adrian was unable to add any more runs in the top half, and Alma capitalized in the bottom of the inning, walking it off to hand Adrian their first MIAA loss of the season in a dramatic, hard-fought contest.
