Offense Plates 13 Runs While Pitching Staff Strikes Out 19 as Baseball Tops Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Adrian College baseball team defeated Piedmont University, 13-4, on Wednesday in Georgia, earning their second win of the southern trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Adrian took an early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning. Easton Rogers sparked the offense with an RBI double, and Linken Hayward followed with a two-run single to extend the advantage.
  • The Bulldogs added two more runs in the second inning as Nic Bruder and David Kedrow each singled in a run, giving Adrian a 5-0 lead. Ryan Davis then doubled in a run and later scored on a passed ball, increasing the lead to 7-0.
  • Adrian's offense kept rolling in the second inning when Christian Oliver hit a three-run homer, pushing the lead to 10-0.
  • Davis added another run in the top of the third with a double, and Piedmont responded with a run in the bottom half to make it 11-1.
  • Piedmont avoided the mercy rule in the seventh inning by scoring two runs on a 2-RBI single with the bases loaded, narrowing the score to 11-3.
  • In the eighth, Oliver tripled to drive in a run and later scored on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 13-3. Piedmont managed to score a run in the ninth, thanks to a leadoff triple, to make the final score 13-4.

TOP DAWGS:

  • Christian Oliver led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, just a double shy of the cycle.
  • Ryan Davis recorded three hits and added two RBIs, contributing to Adrian's total of 18 hits. Eight Bulldogs finished the game with multi-hit performances.
  • On the mound, Sean Parker made his first collegiate start for Adrian, earning the win after five innings of work. He allowed just one run on five hits while striking out nine. Griffin Firestine and Ryan Davis each struck out five batters in relief, contributing to a total of 19 strikeouts for the Bulldogs on the day.

UP NEXT: Adrian will have a day off before heading to Greensboro, North Carolina, to open a weekend series. The Bulldogs will face Greensboro College on Friday, March 7, at 1:30 PM.
