Rogers and Davis Combine for Six Hits but Baseball Falls Short to Greensboro in Walk-Off Fashion

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Adrian College baseball team wrapped up their Spring Break trip with a three-game series in Greensboro, North Carolina. In a heartbreaking finish, Adrian fell to the host school, Greensboro, in a 9-8 walk-off loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Adrian came out strong, scoring three runs in the first inning. Christian Oliver drew a bases-loaded walk, and a wild pitch allowed another run to score. Rolando Jimenez added a sacrifice fly in the second, giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead. Adrian extended their advantage to 4-0 with a run in the third.
  • Greensboro responded with two runs in the third inning to make it 4-2, but the Bulldogs added more offense in the fifth. Easton Rogers singled in a run, followed by another bases-loaded walk and another sacrifice fly from Jimenez to increase the lead to 7-2.
  • Greensboro's offense erupted in the fifth inning, as they scored on an RBI double, an RBI single, and a 2-RBI triple, narrowing the gap to 7-6.
  • Rogers singled in another run for Adrian in the sixth, pushing the lead to 8-6, but Greensboro answered back, tying the game in the seventh.
  • In the ninth inning, Greensboro loaded the bases and scored on a play at the plate to walk it off with a 9-8 victory.

NOTABLE STATS:

  • Adrian totaled 10 hits, with Rogers and Ryan Davis each collecting three hits.
  • Jaxon Clark started on the mound for Adrian, tossing six innings and allowing six earned runs on nine hits while striking out four. Broc Shoemaker took the loss in relief, pitching 2.1 innings.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon when they face Montclair State University at 5:00 PM.
