ALMA, Mich. – The Adrian College softball team made the trip to Alma, Michigan where they faced Alma College for MIAA double-header as Adrian would go on to sweep Alma 3-0 and 10-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
It was a pitcher's duel early as the Bulldogs and Scots remained locked in a scoreless battle through five innings. But in the sixth,
Hailey DeChalk broke the deadlock with a clutch double to center field, driving in
Abbie Hoff for the game's first run.
Adrian kept the momentum rolling in the seventh.
Meghan Lupu delivered with a sharp single to right, bringing home
Genna Marasco to make it 2-0. Moments later,
Maggie Leveille added the finishing touch with a sacrifice fly, allowing
Taylor Gerhardt to cross the plate for the Bulldogs' third run.
In the circle,
Macee Schang was lights-out. She tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering seven hits, striking out four, and keeping the Scots off the scoreboard to seal the 3-0 victory for Adrian.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
The Bulldogs came out firing in game two, exploding for seven runs in a dominant first inning.
Maggie Leveille,
Meghan Lupu, and
Taylor Gerhardt all crossed the plate following a throwing error by the catcher to jump-start the scoring.
Karsyn Malinich drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home
Makenzi Johnson, and
Genna Marasco followed suit with another RBI walk, plating
Hailey DeChalk for the fifth run.
Gerhardt reached on a fielder's choice, allowing
Ashley Myers to score, and Lupu capped off the inning with a sharp single to drive in Marasco, making it a commanding 7-0 lead after one.
Adrian's offense didn't slow down in the second, as DeChalk ripped a double to center to bring home
Peyton Russell. The Bulldogs added two more in the third thanks to back-to-back doubles from Leveille and
Abbie Hoff, pushing the final tally to 10 runs.

Abbi Patton was rock-solid, tossing four scoreless innings, allowing just four hits, and striking out four to earn the win and seal a convincing 10-0 victory for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday, April 13 where they will travel to Angola, Indiana to face Trine University. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
