ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCSA D1 softball team hosted Ohio Northern University and Oakland University for a double-header on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs exploded to a 15-0 win over Ohio Northern and a 13-1 win over Oakland University.
Adrian College opened their day in commanding fashion against Ohio Northern University, exploding for seven runs in the first inning and never looking back. The Bulldogs added eight more in the second, cruising to a decisive 15-0 run-rule victory in just three innings.
Taylor Robinson led the offensive charge, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Greer Simpson chipped in with a 1-for-2 performance, adding a run and two RBIs, while Michelle Hoffman went 2-for-3, crossing the plate twice and driving in one.
Haley Holmes was lights out in the circle, tossing a three-inning one-hitter with one strikeout to secure the shutout win.
In the second game of the day, the Bulldogs kept their momentum rolling against Oakland University. Adrian struck early with two runs in the first, added four more in the third, one in the fourth, and closed the game with a six-run outburst in the fifth to seal a dominant 13-1 victory.
Brianna Scot delivered a flawless 3-for-3 performance at the plate, driving in three.
Greer Simpson stayed hot, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Sara Kozel matched that with a 2-for-3 outing of her own, scoring twice and plating one. Cortney Robertson added a big swing with three RBIs on a 1-for-3 day.
Kaitlyn Fry was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game five-hitter, striking out four, and allowing just one run in the win.
Adrian is back in action on Tuesday, April 22 where they will take a trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana and take on Indiana Tech. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM.
