GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team grabbed another series win on Saturday afternoon after a doubleheader split with Calvin University. The Bulldogs took game one 11-3 before falling 2-1 in ten innings. The Bulldogs move to 12-3 in conference play and remain in first-place in the MIAA standings by 1.5 games.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- Calvin started the scoring by taking a 1-0 lead in the first.
- Adrian responded in the third inning on an RBI single from Easton Rogers and a 2-RBI single from Jack Burns to lead 3-1.
- Calvin added another run in the fourth before being answered by a home from Burns and an RBI single from Rolando Jimenez in the fifth.
- Jimenez drove in another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly before David Kedrow hit a bases clearing double in the eighth followed by another sac fly from Burns.
- Calvin added a run in the ninth, but the Bulldogs went on to win 11-3.
- Linken Hayward led the team with three hits while Nic Bruder, Kedrow, Burns, and Jimenez had two. Kedrow and Burns each drove in four runs.
- Ambrose Horwath got the start for Adrian where he tossed four innings allowing two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Griffin Firestine earned the win with 1.2 innings of shutout baseball.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- It was a pitcher's duel in game two with the Bulldogs falling 2-1 in extra innings.
- Calvin jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
- The Bulldogs got on the board in the seventh after a solo home run from Linken Hayward.
- After an Adrian error in the tenth, the Bulldogs were forced to walk the bases loaded where Calvin eventually scored on a fielder's choice.
- Hayward recorded the only hit for Adrian in the game with his solo home run.
- Ryan Davis started on the mound for Adrian where he threw seven innings allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts.

The Bulldogs will look pick up another series win next weekend when they face Hope College starting on Friday, April 25 at 4:00 PM on the road.
