HOLLAND, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team kicked off its series against Hope College on the road Thursday afternoon, edging out the Flying Dutchmen in a tightly contested 7-5 win. The Bulldogs held off a late rally by Hope to secure the victory in game one of the series.
How It Happened

Adrian struck first in the top of the first inning with an RBI groundout from David Kedrow, taking an early 1-0 lead. Hope responded quickly, tying the game 1-1 in the bottom half.

Kedrow struck again in the third, launching a three-run homer to center field to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead and tallying his fourth RBI of the game.

In the seventh inning, Easton Rogers extended the lead with a sacrifice fly, followed by an infield RBI single from Jake Burns, making it 6-1.

Hope plated a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh, but Rogers answered in the top of the eighth with an RBI single to make it 7-2.

The Flying Dutchmen mounted a comeback in the eighth, capitalizing on an Adrian error to score one run and adding two more on a single to left, narrowing the deficit to 7-5.

Ryan Davis closed the door in the ninth, pitching a scoreless frame to earn his fourth save of the season and preserve the win.

Kedrow and Burns each tallied three hits, with Kedrow leading the way with four RBIs. Rogers also drove in two runs.

Jaxon Clark picked up his sixth win of the season, tossing seven strong innings while allowing just two runs on three hits and striking out five.
