ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College softball team welcomed the Comets of Capital University for a Tuesday evening double header where the Bulldogs won both games. The first 8-0 and the second 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1:
The Bulldogs came out swinging in the opening frame, and
Peyton Russell wasted no time making an impact. With the bases loaded in the first inning, Russell launched a grand slam to give Adrian an early 4-0 lead.
The offense kept rolling in the second.
Meghan Lupu grounded out to third, bringing home
Alaina Craig to extend the lead to five. Later in the inning,
Abbie Hoff added to the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly that plated
Genna Marasco.
Russell stepped up again in the fourth and delivered déjà vu, a two-run blast to left, capping off an explosive performance and sealing an 8-0 win for the Bulldogs.
Russell finished the day a perfect 2-for-2 with two home runs, six RBIs, and two runs scored. Lupu also had a strong showing at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
In the circle,
Macee Schang was dominant once again, picking up her eighth win of the season. She tossed four shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2:
After Capital jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Adrian quickly answered with a rally of their own.
Abbie Hoff sparked the offense with a single up the middle, followed by a
Hailey DeChalk RBI single to left.
Peyton Russell then lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in another run, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead after one.
Adrian kept the pressure on in the second inning.
Genna Marasco delivered an RBI single, and
Meghan Lupu drove in another with a groundout to stretch the lead to 5-2.
In the third, the Bulldogs put the game out of reach.
Maggie Leveille ripped a double to left, plating one, and Marasco struck again with a single to right, bringing home
Karsyn Malinich and capping the scoring at 7-2.
Marasco led the charge, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Hoff also had a strong game at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

Abbi Patton earned her eighth win of the season with a solid five-inning outing, allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out one.
Adrian is back on the diamond on Thursday, April 24 where they will host Saint Mary's College. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM
