ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College softball team hosted Saint Mary's College on Thursday evening where the Bulldogs rolled over the Belles in two games winning 11-0 in both contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1:
Adrian wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead in the first inning as Taylor Gerhardt scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.
The Bulldogs broke the game wide open in the second, plating six runs in a relentless offensive surge. Genna Marasco got it started with a single to left, driving in Maggie Leveille. Gerhardt followed by drawing a bases-loaded walk to bring home Karsyn Malinich. Meghan Lupu then hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Alaina Craig to cross the plate. With two runners on, Abbie Hoff stepped up and crushed a three-run homer, stretching Adrian's lead to 7-0 after just two innings.
Adrian kept their foot on the gas in the fourth. Leveille doubled to bring in Hailey DeChalk, and Alaina Craig followed with a single to right to score Peyton Russell. Marasco continued her hot streak with another RBI single, this time plating Leveille. Hoff capped off the scoring with a bases-loaded walk that brought Marasco home, sealing an 11-0 lead.
The Bulldog bats were electric all afternoon. Hoff finished 1-for-2 with four RBIs and a run scored, while Marasco went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Craig also went 3-for-3, adding an RBI and a run, and Gerhardt stayed perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run.
In the circle, Macee Schang was dominant once again, earning her ninth win of the season. She threw five shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2:
Adrian picked up right where they left off in game two, jumping on Saint Mary's early and never looking back. Abbie Hoff continued her monster day at the plate, ripping a double down the left field line to bring home Meghan Lupu and Taylor Gerhardt. Maggie Leveille added to the tally with a sacrifice fly, giving the Bulldogs a quick 3-0 lead.
In the second, Hoff struck again with another double, this time to left center scoring Lupu once more. Leveille followed with a clutch double of her own to right center, plating Hailey DeChalk and Hoff to push the lead to 7-0.
Adrian's bats stayed red-hot in the third. DeChalk delivered a two-run double to right, and Peyton Russell followed by doubling her home, trading places for the Bulldogs' tenth run. Emily Ventrone would cap the scoring at 11, crossing the plate on a Saint Mary's error.
Hoff was sensational at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Leveille added a 1-for-2 performance with three RBIs, while DeChalk chipped in a 1-for-2 line, driving in one and scoring three times.
In the circle, Abbi Patton was rock-solid, matching her teammate's earlier performance with a five-inning shutout. She scattered three hits, didn't allow a run, and struck out one, securing her ninth win of the season.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, April 30 where they will head to Olivet, Michigan and take on The University of Olivet. The first pitch of the first game is set for 3:00 PM.
