ADRIAN, Mich. –  The Adrian College baseball team wrapped up its series with Hope College on Saturday with a doubleheader at Nicolay Field. The Bulldogs won the series after a 6-2 victory in game one of the day. Adrian finished the sweep after a 9-3 victory in game two which officially locks up the No. 1 seed for the MIAA Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1

• Ryan Davis got things started in the first inning with an infield single that brought home the opening run, giving Adrian a 1-0 lead.
• Davis struck again in the third with a sacrifice fly, and Rolando Jimenez followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
• Hope responded with a run in the top of the fourth to make it 3-1.
• The Bulldogs broke it open in the seventh, scoring three more. Jimenez drew a bases-loaded walk, and Linken Hayward followed with a two-run single to push the lead to 6-1.
• Adrian tacked on more insurance in the eighth. Easton Rogers delivered an RBI single, and Hayward came through again with another two-run single, sealing the 9-1 win.
• Cam Oliver, Easton Rogers, Rolando Jimenez, and Linken Hayward all finished with two hits apiece. Hayward led the way with four RBIs.
• Landon Kozlowski started on the mound, allowing one run on six hits over three innings. Sean Parker earned the win with three scoreless innings in relief, and Griffin Firestine closed it out with three strong innings for the save.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2

• Hope opened the game with two runs in the top of the first on a bases loaded hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly.
• The Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs on an RBI triple from Nic Bruder, followed by a run scored on a passed ball, and another on a wild pitch.
• David Kedrow drove in a pair of runs in the third inning on a 2-RBI double followed by an RBI groundout from Rogers.
• Hayward gave the Bulldogs a 7-2 lead in the sixth after hitting a solo home run.
• Adrian added two more in the seventh on a bases loaded walk and a field choice to lead 9-2.
• Hope added a run in the ninth, but it wasn't enough to make a comeback.
• Jaxon McGuigan, Nic Bruder, Davis, and Kedrow each recorded two hits in the game.
• Ambrose Horwath started on the mound where he threw 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits. Raymond Keane earned the win in relief after throwing 3.1 innings allowing no runs on two hits.

The Bulldogs will have their final regular season series next weekend against Albion College. The series will begin on the road at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 1.
