Baseball Battles Through Consolation Bracket and Claims a Spot in the Regional Championship

ADRIAN, Mich. – Facing elimination on day two of the 2025 NCAA Division III Baseball Regionals, the Adrian College baseball team delivered back-to-back victories to keep their season alive. The Bulldogs opened Saturday with a thrilling 13-9 extra-inning win over No. 3 Ohio Northern, then followed it up with a strong 7-3 victory against No. 2 WashU to advance to the Regional Championship.


Game 1: Adrian 13, Ohio Northern 9 (10 Innings)

  • Ohio Northern took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

  • Adrian responded with a run in the third, capitalizing on an ONU error to cut the deficit to 2-1.

  • After ONU made it 3-1 in the third, Adrian tied the game with a sacrifice fly by Ryan Davis in the fifth and a fielder's choice RBI from Rolando Jimenez in the sixth.

  • The Bulldogs erupted for five runs in the seventh, highlighted by a David Kedrow double, RBI singles from Jaxon McGuigan and Jimenez, a fielder's choice by Easton Rogers, and a bases-loaded walk to Linken Hayward.

  • ONU clawed back with two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth, but Adrian added a run in the ninth to lead 9-6.

  • In dramatic fashion, ONU tied the game with a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to force extras.

  • Unshaken, Adrian responded with four runs in the 10th: a bases-loaded walk to Christian Oliver, a two-run single by Jack Boike, and another RBI single by Jimenez sealed the 13-9 win.

  • Jimenez led the offense with three hits. Hayward, McGuigan, and Nic Bruder each added two.

  • Ryan Davis pitched eight innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts. Sean Parker earned the win in relief with 1.2 innings of no-hit work.

Game 2: Adrian 7, WashU 3

  • WashU opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, but Jimenez answered with an RBI double in the second to tie it at 1-1.

  • Later in the inning, Hayward delivered a go-ahead RBI single up the middle.

  • WashU tied the game in the fourth and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.

  • Jimenez came through again with a game-tying RBI single in the sixth.

  • In the seventh, Adrian regained the lead as Nic Bruder scored on a wild pitch, followed by an RBI single from Joe Casale.

  • A WashU error in the eighth allowed Adrian to extend the lead to 6-3.

  • The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the ninth to secure the 7-3 victory.

  • Adrian tallied 13 hits, with multi-hit performances from Rogers, Oliver, Casale, Jimenez, and Boike.

  • Pitching was split across Ambrose Horwath, Landon Kozlowski, and Griffin Firestine, each throwing three innings. Kozlowski earned his fourth win of the season, while Firestine notched his fourth save.

Up Next

Adrian advances to the NCAA Regional Championship for the third consecutive season. The Bulldogs will face UW-Whitewater in a rematch beginning at 11:00 AM, with an "if necessary" game to follow.
