Baseball Drops MIAA Tournament Opener, Fall to Consolation Bracket After 5-4 Loss to Kalamazoo

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team opened the 2025 MIAA Baseball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon as the No. 1 seed, hosting the No. 4 seed Kalamazoo College Hornets. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, their tournament run took an early detour as they dropped a narrow 5-4 decision, falling into the consolation bracket.

How It Happened

  • Kalamazoo struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a two-run single.

  • Adrian answered quickly in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game 2-2 on a two-run home run by Linken Hayward.

  • The Bulldogs grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Easton Rogers delivered an RBI single, scoring David Kedrow.

  • The Hornets responded in the sixth, tying the game on an RBI groundout before taking a 4-3 lead on a bunt single.

  • Kalamazoo added an insurance run in the seventh, capitalizing on an error to make it 5-3.

  • In the bottom of the seventh, Adrian loaded the bases and pushed one run across on a walk, trimming the deficit to 5-4, but couldn't complete the comeback.

Adrian collected 11 hits on the afternoon, with three apiece from Rogers and Hayward.
Starting pitcher Jaxon Clark went six innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits while striking out four.
