Dershahn Stewart of Men's NCAA Hockey Inks Professional Deal with EIHL's Coventry Blaze

ADRIAN, Mich. – Former Adrian College men's NCAA hockey goaltender, Dershahn Stewart, has officially signed a professional contract with the Coventry Blaze of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), marking the beginning of his professional playing career post-graduation.

A native of Amherstburg, Ontario, Stewart spent the past five seasons with the Adrian College Bulldogs, where he established himself as one of the premier goaltenders in NCAA Division III hockey. His time in the crease for the Bulldogs was defined by consistency, discipline, and a steady presence that helped anchor one of the top programs in the country, in which he also played a part in the program's 2022 National Championship victory.

Stewart's collegiate career was filled with success, both individually and as part of a dominant team. Over five seasons, he played in 77 games, amassing an outstanding record, including 50 career wins, and earning numerous accolades. In the 2023–24 season, Stewart appeared in 29 games and recorded a .936 save percentage, one of the highest in the nation. He followed that up with another strong campaign in 2024–25, starting 26 games and finishing with a .910 save percentage. Off the ice, Stewart also distinguished himself as a student-athlete. He earned Academic All-District honors and was recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association for his excellence in the classroom.

The Coventry Blaze, based in the United Kingdom, compete in the top tier of professional hockey in the UK and are known for developing North American talent. Stewart's signing reflects the Blaze's confidence in his ability to transition to the professional level and contribute immediately to their goaltending corps. In previous years, the Blaze have brought in numerous Adrian College products, including the likes of Mathew Thompson, Zach Heintz, Cam Gray, Alessio Luciani, and more.

Stewart becomes the latest Bulldog to advance to the professional ranks, continuing the program's tradition of developing high-caliber players prepared for success beyond college. His combination of athletic ability, mental toughness, and academic achievement made him a standout figure during his time at Adrian and will serve him well as he takes the next step in his hockey journey.

Adrian College congratulates Dershahn Stewart on this exciting milestone and wishes him continued success as he begins his professional career overseas.
