Women’s Volleyball Drops Two in Houston to Start the Year

HOUSTON, Texas - The Adrian College women's volleyball team kicked off their 2025 season campaign in Houston, Texas for a four game stint. The Bulldogs started the season with a match against Hardin-Simmons University and University of St. Thomas. 

Game 1:

Adrian battled hard in its season opener, pushing Hardin-Simmons to the wire in the first set before the Cowboys pulled away late to take it 25-22. The second set tilted in Hardin-Simmons' favor from the start, as they claimed a 25-13 win.

The Bulldogs showed grit in the third, keeping it close throughout, but ultimately fell in three. Kora Nicolanti paced the offense with a team-high nine kills, while Lauren Boehmer added seven. At setter, Megan Reckling dished out 14 assists with Kendall Sullivan contributing eight to round out the attack.

Adrian now turns its focus to a bounce-back opportunity against the University of St. Thomas. 

Game 2: 

In their second match of the day, the Bulldogs faced a tough challenge, dropping the opening set 25-10. Adrian's offense was balanced, with Virginia Rowan, Apryl Kruse, Kora Nicolanti, and Ava Acre each recording five kills to lead the team. Emma Leinberger directed the attack with a team-high 11 assists, but despite the effort, St. Thomas controlled the next two sets as well, handing the Bulldogs a straight-set defeat.

The Bulldogs will play two matches tomorrow with ??Schreiner University at 10:00 AM ET and Mary Harden-Baylor at 2:30 PM ET.
