ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA baseball teams kicked off their fall seasons over the past ten days, with both Division I and Division III teams taking the field.

The NCBA Division I team holds a 1-2 record after splitting a two-game series with Western Michigan and falling in extra innings to Ohio Valley Community College. Meanwhile, the Division III team is off to a strong start at 1-0 following a narrow 10-9 road victory over Washtenaw Community College.

In the opening series against Western Michigan, the Bulldogs came out firing, scoring seven runs in the first inning of game one and adding another in the second. The Mustangs responded with a three-run fifth and a decisive seven-run seventh inning to take the opener, 10-9.

Adrian bounced back in game two, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Western Michigan countered with two in the second and tied the game 3-3 in the sixth. With the game on the line, Matthew Clayton delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh to seal a 4-3 win for the Bulldogs.

In their third game, the Bulldogs faced Ohio Valley Community College in a back-and-forth thriller. Ohio Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Adrian responded with a four-run fifth inning to take the lead. Ohio Valley chipped away with runs in the sixth and seventh, then exploded for six runs in the eighth to lead 11-6. The Bulldogs rallied, scoring one in the eighth and four in the ninth to tie the game. However, Ohio Valley plated a run in the top of the tenth and held off Adrian in the bottom half to secure a 12-11 victory.

Damon Harriss and Christian Reschar are leading the Division I squad with impressive .571 batting averages. Isaac Jurmu leads the team with three RBIs. On the mound, Cameron Wakefield has pitched a team-high 6.2 innings, recording eight strikeouts and posting a 1.35 ERA.

The NCBA Division III team opened its season with a hard-fought win over Washtenaw Community College. After scoring six runs in the top of the second inning, Adrian held a 7-3 lead entering the fourth. Washtenaw responded with a five-run inning to go ahead 8-7. Adrian rallied again, scoring three in the sixth and holding Washtenaw to just one additional run to close out a 10-9 victory.

Camden Beatty led the Bulldogs offensively, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Logan Passeggiato and Gage Hreben each added two hits. On the mound, Joshua Cornett and Remington Gielniak pitched three innings apiece to help secure the win.

Both teams return to action on September 26–27 at the Battle Creek Blast Tournament. The NCBA Division I team will face Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, and Illinois State in pool play, while the Division III squad will take on Michigan State, Oakland University, and Miami University (OH).
