Box Score 3 BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA baseball teams competed in the Battle Creek Blast over the weekend. The NCBA Division I team finished with a 2-1 record, earning wins over Grand Valley State (11-8) and Saginaw Valley State University (14-0), while the NCBA Division III team went 0-3.
In the win over Grand Valley, the Division I Bulldogs overcame an early 1-0 deficit with a five-run second inning. They added two more in the third before Grand Valley pulled within one entering the sixth. Adrian responded with three runs in the fifth, highlighted by singles from Tyler Hall and Carson Meister, ultimately securing the 11-8 victory.
Hall led the way offensively with three hits, while Matthew Clayton, Isaac Jurmu, and Meister each recorded two hits. Clayton blasted a three-run home run in the third inning.
Against Saginaw Valley, the Bulldogs dominated in a five-inning shutout. Adrian scored four runs in the first, two in the second, and exploded for eight more in the third, powered by hits from Jurmu and Drake Harris. On the mound, Colton Hicks pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four.
The Division III team opened the tournament with a close 4-3 loss to Michigan State but struggled on Saturday, falling 12-2 and 8-2 in their remaining games.
Up next, the NCBA Division I team will host Ohio Valley Community College on Wednesday, October 1 at 6:00 PM. The Division III team returns to action on Friday, October 11 with a home doubleheader against the University of Toledo beginning at 5:00 PM.
