ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College bids a farewell to Assistant Sports Information Director and Assistant Men's ACHA Division I Hockey Coach,
Tyler Fyfe '22.
Fyfe, a native of Cloverdale, British Columbia, Canada, first arrived at Adrian College in August 2018 as a student-athlete, joining the Men's ACHA Division I Hockey team. He earned his bachelor's degree in Marketing in 2022 and immediately began working toward his master's while starting his career in the Sports Information Office. He later graduated again from AC in 2024 with his master's degree in Sport Management.
His journey began as an intern in 2022, where he supported day-to-day operations within the department. The following year, he was promoted to Graduate Assistant, serving as the primary contact for 12 athletic programs. Upon completing his master's degree, Fyfe was elevated to Assistant Sports Information Director, working with 17 varsity teams. Fyfe has also been an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC) for the past three years, attending one national convention and earning recognition as part of the staff nominated for 2024-25 D3SIDA Regional Communicator of the Year.
"Tyler was a star in the Sports Information Department," said Sports Information Director
Mike Prang.
"From day one, he was one of the hardest-working individuals I've had the pleasure to work with. His dedication and the quality of coverage he provided for our programs were exceptional. I'm happy to say that he wasn't just a great co-worker, but he was an amazing friend too. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
In addition to his contributions off the ice, Fyfe had an outstanding playing career with the Men's ACHA Division I Hockey team. Over five seasons, he appeared in 156 games, recording 84 goals, 95 assists, for a total of 179 points, placing him inside the top-ten all-time for the Men's ACHA DI Hockey program in all three categories. He captained the Bulldogs during the 2021–22 season and helped lead the team to their second National Championship in 2021 as an Assistant Captain. Fyfe was a two-time member of the Conference All-Academic Team during his time as a Bulldog, and was the 2022 recipient of the Adrian College Outstanding Senior Leadership Award.
After graduating, Fyfe transitioned to coaching, joining the staff as an Assistant Coach for the past two-plus seasons. In his first year behind the bench, the Bulldogs captured another National Championship back in 2024. During his two-year coaching tenure, the team compiled an impressive 66-9-2 record, winning two conference titles, one conference tournament championship, a national title, and finishing as national runner-up the following year.
"Fyfer was an unbelievable student, hockey player, team captain, and ultimately coach," said Head Coach of the Men's ACHA DI program,
Gary Astalos.
"But most importantly, he is one of the kindest, hard-working, and team-first people I've had the privilege of knowing for the past seven years. I'm grateful to have had him as a Bulldog, but even more blessed to be able to call him a friend for life."
Adrian College extends its heartfelt thanks to Tyler Fyfe for his dedication and service as a student-athlete, coach, and SID. His impact on the ice, in the classroom, in the Athletics Department, and throughout the campus community will not be forgotten.
