GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Adrian College men's soccer team put forth a determined effort on the road Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 2–0 to DePauw University on the road.
The Bulldogs battled through 90 minutes of competitive play, showing flashes of promise on both ends of the field, but were unable to overcome a composed DePauw side that capitalized on key moments in each half.
DePauw opened the scoring in the 39th minute to give the hosts a 1–0 lead heading into halftime. Adrian responded well coming out of the break, tightening their shape and pressing forward in search of an equalizer. However, the Tigers extended their advantage in the 63rd minute to round out the scoring.
Though the scoreboard favored DePauw, the Bulldogs' back line, anchored by senior goalkeeper Eli Sizemore, stood firm under consistent pressure. Sizemore recorded 4 saves on the afternoon, including several timely stops that kept Adrian within striking distance throughout the match.
While Adrian was limited to 2 shots overall, the attacking unit showed improved movement and spacing in the second half, signaling potential as the team continues to build chemistry early in the season. The physical nature of the match was evident, with both teams combining for 27 fouls and 4 yellow cards. Adrian remained composed throughout, showing discipline and competitive edge against a high-tempo opponent.
Despite the result, the Bulldogs will look forward to their next match, which will take place on September 9 at home versus Defiance College. Kick-off at 7:00 PM.
