LONDON, Ont. -- The
Adrian College women's wrestling turned in an impressive showing at the Western Open, finishing fourth overall out of 30 teams in a highly competitive field.
The Bulldogs were led by a trio of runner-up finishes. At 53 kg,
Carleigh Czerneski put together a strong tournament, opening with a pair of dominant wins by technical fall and pin before earning a second-place finish and seven team points.
Mason Harsch matched that performance at 59 kg, recording four pins on the day—including two in under a minute—to secure a second-place result and seven points for Adrian.
Aliya Conner also reached the finals at 72 kg, pinning her opening opponent to earn a second-place finish and seven team points.
Adrian added multiple podium finishes across the lineup. Paige Willman captured third place at 76 kg, bouncing back from a semifinal loss with back-to-back pins to claim five team points. Raven Aldridge also placed third at 83 kg, winning three of her four matches by fall or injury default to contribute five points. Mia Gaetjens followed closely behind at 83 kg with a fourth-place finish, highlighted by two quick pins in the consolation rounds.
Alexis Baumgartner battled through the consolation bracket at 50 kg, earning a fourth-place finish after recording two pins and a decision to score three team points. Taylor Cutler rounded out the scoring efforts with a fifth-place finish at 65 kg, securing two pins—including one in eight seconds—to add two points. Sophia Renteria also placed sixth at 56 kg, contributing one team point.
The Bulldogs women's wrestling squad will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Indiana Tech Warrior Open.
