Men’s Soccer Earns First Point Against Hope in Miles Era with 1-1 Senior Night Draw

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team delivered one of the program's most significant results under head coach Charlie Miles on Saturday afternoon, earning a 1-1 draw against Hope College on Senior Night at Docking Stadium.

The result marked Adrian's first point against Hope during the Miles era and provided another sign of the program's continued growth. Before the match, the Bulldogs honored their senior class and then battled for the full 90 minutes against one of the MIAA's strongest programs.

Adrian remained composed during a scoreless opening half. Nikolai Zacharko recorded the Bulldogs' first shot on goal in the 23rd minute, while goalkeeper Eli Sizemore made five saves to keep Hope off the scoreboard.

The Bulldogs elevated their play after halftime and controlled long stretches of the second period. Adrian generated eight shots in the final 45 minutes after recording three during the first half, consistently building pressure and creating opportunities in the attacking third.

Adrian's effort was rewarded in the 75th minute. Jack Pelton helped create the scoring chance and found Kyle Peterson, who finished the play to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead and bring the Senior Night crowd to its feet.

Hope answered less than three minutes later to even the match at 1-1, but Adrian continued pushing for the game-winning goal. Pelton placed a shot on target in the 82nd minute before Carter Kerbawy and Peterson forced back-to-back saves during the final four minutes.

Peterson led Adrian with three shots, including two on goal and the Bulldogs' lone goal. Pelton and Owen Soper each added two attempts, while Pelton recorded the assist. Sizemore finished the afternoon with eight saves.

The draw moved Adrian to 4-5-2 overall and 0-1-1 in MIAA play. More importantly, earning the program's first point against Hope in the Miles era represented a major step forward for the Bulldogs and gave the team momentum heading into the remainder of conference play.

Adrian returns to action on Tuesday, October 13, when it travels to Alma College for a 4:30 p.m. MIAA match.
