ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCSA D1 team battled the Lady Hawks of Henry Ford Community College in a doubleheader on Friday night. Adrian senior Elizabeth Grady was celebrated prior to tonight's games as part of senior day.
Game 1
The Lady Hawks got the game started with a run in the top of the first. They added to that lead with a solo home run in the top of the third, and an RBI single in the fourth inning. Henry Ford CC tacked on one more in the top of the seventh. Offensively, the Bulldogs had no answer for the Lady Hawks pitcher who tossed a complete-game shutout. Senior Elizabeth Grady started in the circle for the Bulldogs and dealt a complete game, allowing just two earned runs. Nevaeh Edison followed up her stellar performance last week with a two-hit game. Henry Ford CC took game one by a final score of 4-0
Game 2
Kaitlyn Fry started the doubleheader finale with two shutout innings in the circle for Adrian. This gave the Bulldogs the chance to create a four-run lead courtesy of RBIs from Nevaeh Edison and Mattea Bingaman. The Adrian lead was cut in half in the top of the third when the Lady Hawks drove in two runs on a double. Fry helped herself out by driving in a run to extend the Adrian lead. A Lady Hawk single once again cut into the Adrian lead, and an inning later a two-run inside-the-park home run tied the game at five. In the top of the sixth inning, Henry Ford CC put up a five spot to take a 10-5 lead. Down, but not out, the Bulldogs offense responded with a four spot of their own in the sixth inning. Through six innings, Adrian trailed by one run, 10-9. Hailey Lambes held the Lady Hawks off the board in the top of the seventh, keeping the deficit at one. Adrian put together back-to-back two-out hits to put the tying run in scoring position. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs couldn't get the run in. Despite clawing back into the game, Adrian dropped game two 10-9.
