Men’s Soccer Rallies from Two-Goal Deficit to Earn Draw at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Adrian College men's soccer team erased a two-goal halftime deficit on Saturday night to earn a 3-3 draw against Ohio Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs moved to 4-4-1 on the season following the non-conference contest.

Ohio Wesleyan opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Carter Flynn found the back of the net. The Battling Bishops doubled their lead with 16 seconds remaining in the opening half on a goal from Aedan Costa, sending Adrian into halftime trailing 2-0.

The Bulldogs began their comeback in the 68th minute. Kyle Peterson set up Nick Miller, who scored to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Ohio Wesleyan answered with a penalty-kick goal from Vittorio Renda in the 72nd minute to regain a two-goal advantage. Adrian responded just over a minute later when Jack Pelton scored his first goal of the night, pulling the Bulldogs within one.

Pelton completed the comeback in the 82nd minute. Ryan Kientz and Miller assisted on the equalizer as Adrian tied the match at 3-3.

Pelton led the Bulldogs with five shots and two goals. Miller finished with one goal and one assist, while Peterson and Kientz each recorded an assist. Nikolai Zacharko placed Adrian's other shot on goal.

Eli Sizemore played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with seven saves. Adrian recorded 14 shots, including four on goal, while Ohio Wesleyan finished with 20 shots and 10 on target.

The Bulldogs will return home on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when they host Calvin University at Docking Stadium. The MIAA opener is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
