GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team concluded the regular season Friday night in an MIAA matchup at Calvin University.
The Knights showed why they came into tonight ranked 13th in the latest AVCA DIII Top 25 poll. Calvin opened up the first set with a ten-point run that was ended by a Lauren Boehmer kill that got the Bulldogs on the board. Khloe Budzynski and Ava Acre added kills, but it wasn't enough as Calvin secured a 25-6 victory in the first set.
The second set started very similarly to the first, with Calvin jumping out to a commanding lead. With the Knights up big, Budzynski registered back-to-back kills to cut into the deficit. A four-point run gave the Knights a 25-10 advantage and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Adrian led 5-2 to start the third set. The Knights pieced together an eight-point run that handed them a five-point lead. Kendall Sullivan added a kill to stop another Calvin run, as the Knights built a ten-point lead. Adrian answered with a 10-5 run that brought them within five points. Calvin quickly stopped the Bulldogs' comeback attempt, securing the sweep.
