Baseball Opens Season with Win over No. 23 Brockport after Hitting Four Home Runs

CANTON, Ohio – The No. 20/RV Adrian College baseball team opened its season in Canton, Ohio, with a 15-9 victory over No. 23/RV SUNY Brockport on Saturday. The Bulldogs powered their way to the win with four home runs, including two from Aiden Melvin.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Adrian struck first with four runs in the top of the second inning. Melvin launched a three-run homer before Brendan Willadsen added an RBI single. Brockport responded with two runs in the bottom half to cut the lead to 4-1
- The Bulldogs broke the game open in the fourth, plating six runs. Willadsen crushed a three-run homer, Jake Burns added a solo shot, and Casey Finn and Melvin each delivered RBI singles. Brockport answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, trimming the deficit to 10-5.

- In the fifth, Jaxon McGuigan drove in a run with an RBI single. Brockport pushed across a run in the sixth to make it 11-6.

- Finn doubled home a run in the seventh, and Melvin followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 13-6.

- Brockport added a run in the eighth, but Adrian sealed the victory in the ninth when Melvin blasted his second home run of the game, pushing the Bulldogs ahead 15-7. Brockport added two late runs to account for the final 15-9 score.

TOP DAWGS

- Melvin finished 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs, while Willadsen went 3-for-6 with four RBIs.

- Finn, Jack Boike, and McGuigan each tallied three hits, and Burns added two.

- Sean Parker made the start, throwing four innings and allowing four earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout. Tyler Mileski earned the win with two innings of relief, surrendering one run on two hits. Parker Faris struck out three over two innings of work.

UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will remain in Canton to face RV Mount Union tomorrow at Thurman Munson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
