DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Adrian College WD2 hockey team concluded their season at the CCWHA Playoffs this weekend after falling to No. 1 seed Northern Michigan, as the Bulldogs were No. 8, 6-0 Friday afternoon. Although, the Bulldogs lost, they got to play in a consolation bracket series, where they faced No. 5 Bowling Green Saturday afternoon, falling 6-0.
Northern Michigan opened the scoring late in the first period and carried a 1–0 advantage into the first intermission. The Wildcats pulled away in the second period with three goals, building a 4–0 lead despite Adrian creating several scoring chances at even strength. The Wildcats added two more goals early in the third period to seal the victory. Adrian finished the game with 18 shots on goal, while Northern Michigan totaled 33. In net, junior Emily Tracht started for the Bulldogs and made 18 saves in 31:08 of action. Sophomore Chalee Ridenour came on in relief and stopped nine of 12 shots over the final 28:52.Â
Bowling Green opened the scoring midway through the first period with a power-play goal at the 8:26 mark and carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The Falcons added two more goals in the second period, including a shorthanded tally at 8:18 and another at 10:16, to extend the advantage to 3-0. In the third period, Bowling Green continued to apply pressure, scoring three times at 7:01, 11:23, and 14:59—one coming on the power play—to secure the 6-0 final. Adrian finished with 25 shots on goal, including 12 in the second period, while Bowling Green recorded 34 shots. In net, junior Olivia Palacio made 19 saves in 30:16 of action before junior Brianna Rickard turned aside nine shots over the final 29:44.Â
The WD2 Bulldogs conclude their season with an overall record of 5-18-1 and 5-13-1 in the CCWHA.Â
