DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening, falling 21-8 to Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Stadium.
Adrian battled early, trailing just 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs responded to an early 2-0 deficit with goals from Alec Winegar and Austin Selvage, and later capitalized on a man-up opportunity when Winegar found the back of the net to cut the margin to two. Mark Veldhof added a late first-quarter goal to keep Adrian within striking distance.
Ohio Wesleyan seized control in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 7-1 to take a 12-5 lead into halftime. The Battling Bishops carried that momentum into the third, adding five more goals in the opening stretch to extend the advantage. In the final quarter, the Battling Bishops added four more goals to seal the deal, while Adrian only added two.
Winegar led Adrian offensively with three goals, while Trace Tidswell recorded two goals and two assists. Selvage finished with a goal and an assist, and Braeden McNamara and Veldhof each added a goal.
In goal, Josiah Karnehm made six saves in the first half, while Owen Smith recorded eight stops over the final 30 minutes.
The Bulldogs men's lacrosse team is now 0-4 overall and look to earn their first win Saturday as they host Wittenberg at 1:00 PM.
