Men's Volleyball Dominates in Home Tri-Match with a Pair of Sweeps

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's volleyball team put together a dominant Saturday at the Merillat Center, sweeping both Maranatha Baptist University and Hiram College in straight sets to cap off a perfect day on their home court.

The Bulldogs opened the day with an efficient offensive performance, hitting .272 as a team while holding Maranatha to just .041. Adrian controlled the tempo from the outset, never trailing for long stretches and finishing off the Sabercats in three decisive sets. Andrew Vanover led the attack with 12 kills on a .435 hitting percentage, while Marc Solans added 11 kills and four block assists. Carson Bell delivered an impressive all-around performance, tallying six kills on a .857 clip and four service aces. At the setter position, Garrett Leaver dished out 12 assists and Andrew Graczyk added eight assists to keep the offense balanced. Defensively, David Cauley and Vanover each recorded 10 digs as the Bulldogs limited Maranatha's scoring opportunities throughout the match. Adrian hit .333 in both the first and second sets to build momentum early before closing out the sweep with a steady third-set performance.

The Bulldogs carried that momentum into the afternoon matchup against Hiram, once again sweeping their opponent while improving their overall record. Sam Landers turned in a standout effort, exploding for 19 kills on a .366 hitting percentage to lead all players. Dominic Rees added seven kills and two service aces, while William Morris was highly efficient with four kills on six attempts (.667). Andrew Graczyk orchestrated the offense masterfully, handing out 29 assists as Adrian hit .286 as a team. The Bulldogs were sharp defensively as well, collecting 43 digs, including 10 from Rolen Maclin and nine from Landers. Adrian set the tone early with a .393 hitting percentage in the opening set and never relinquished control, holding Hiram to a .076 team hitting mark for the match.

With the two sweeps, the Bulldogs now improve to a 6-9 overall record and look to keep rolling on Tuesday, March 10 as they host Greenville at 7:00 PM.
