ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College WD2 Bulldogs hit the road to conference opponent Lawrence Tech Friday evening, falling 1-3. The Bulldogs looking to redeem themselves Sunday afternoon, but could not, falling 1-4.
The Bulldogs showed resilience in Friday's game, keeping the contest tight throughout. Lawrence Tech opened the scoring at 3:32 of the first period, but Adrian answered in the second when sophomore Gabrielle Paff scored unassisted at 4:29 to tie the game at 1–1. The game remained deadlocked until the third period, when Lawrence Tech regained the lead at 3:34 and added an insurance goal late to secure the 3–1 win. Adrian pushed offensively but was unable to break through again. Emily Tracht made 29 saves in goal for Adrian, turning aside a strong Lawrence Tech attack as the Bulldogs finished the game with 24 shots on goal.
Lawrence Tech jumped out to an early lead in the first period, scoring three times to take control of the game Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils opened the scoring just 53 seconds in, followed by a power-play goal to give LTU a 3–0 advantage heading into the first intermission. Adrian responded in the second period when junior Ella Zebley scored at 4:49, finishing a play set up by sophomore Gabrielle Paff and junior Lulu Weglarz to cut the deficit to 3–1. Despite generating chances and outshooting LTU 31–26, the Bulldogs were unable to find another goal. Lawrence Tech scored with a power-play marker later in the second to seal the 4–1 final. Sophomore Chalee Ridenour made 22 saves in net for Adrian.
The WD2 Bulldogs will be back in action February 14 on the road to Central Michigan for a 7:30 PM puck drop and February 15 at home hosting Central Michigan for a 1:00 PM puck drop for their final games of the season.
