Baseball Tops RV East Texas Baptist and RV Huntingdon in Sunday Sweep to Move to 5-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Adrian College NCAA baseball team starts the season 5-0 for the first time since 2012 after a pair of wins on Sunday. The No. 14 Bulldogs defeated RV East Texas Baptist 10-3 before taking on host school RV Huntingdon and coming away with a 10-5 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
  • The Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the second inning after an RBI double from Rolando Jimenez before scoring a pair of runs on an ETBU error.
  • In the fourth inning, Casey Finn knocked in a run on a double before Nic Bruder drove in a run on a bunt single and Cam Oliver drove in a pair of runs on an RBI single.
  • Boike reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning which drove in a run while Bruder singled in a run to lead 9-0.
  • ETBU scored two runs on a double in the bottom of the fifth and another in the eight to make it 9-3.
  • Cam Oliver drove in another run in the ninth to win 10-3
  • Bruder, Finn, and Gabe Jones all finished the game with three hits while Oliver, Burns, Jimenez, and Boike finished the game with two. Adrian totaled 18 hits in the game while ETBU finished with five.
  • Edward Bieniasz earned the win on the mound after tossing five innings allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
  • In the first inning, Burns knocked in a run on a triple followed by an RBI single from Jones to lead 2-0.
  • Oliver hit a sacrifice fly in the second followed by an RBI double from Burns to lead 4-0.
  • Huntingdon go on the board in the bottom of the second, but Christian Oliver responded with a solo home run in the fifth.
  • Cam Oliver had an RBI single in the sixth before Aiden Melvin and Boike drove in runs in the seventh to lead 8-1.
  • Huntingdon scored a run in the seventh before totaling three in the eighth to make it 8-5.
  • In the ninth, Boike and Bruder both drove in runs to pull ahead 10-5.
  • Boike and Burns finished the game with three hits while Jones and Cam Oliver finished with two.
  • Jaxon Clark got the start on the mound where he allowed one run on one hit. Ambrose Horwath got the win in relief after tossing 4.2 innings in relief and allowing one run on six hits with three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs will travel to Georgia to play Piedmont University on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:00 PM.
