ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA Division III baseball team hosted the University of Akron over the weekend for a three-game home series. The Bulldogs opened the series with a 6-5 victory before dropping the final two games, 4-1 and 5-4.

Adrian and Akron traded runs in the first inning of game one before the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead in the second. Akron briefly took the lead in the third, but Adrian responded with two runs in the fifth to move ahead 5-4. After the Bulldogs added a run in the sixth and Akron scored in the seventh, Adrian held on for the 6-5 win.

Gage Hreben and Adam Lashaway led the Bulldogs with two hits each. Tyler Clement earned the win on the mound, tossing six innings and allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out six.

Game two remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Akron plated three runs. Adrian answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning, but Akron added another in the seventh and held the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win.

Adrian recorded five hits in the contest, with Nate Linder leading the way with two. Linder also started on the mound, throwing six innings and allowing no earned runs on seven hits while striking out three.

Akron claimed the series finale with a narrow 5-4 victory. Adrian scored in the first inning before Akron responded with three runs in the third, one in the fourth, and another in the fifth. The Bulldogs added runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings but were unable to complete the comeback.

Adrian finished with four hits in the finale, including two from Hreben. Sam Sipe made the start on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on nine hits while recording three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs return to action at home on Sunday, March 22, when they host Oakland University for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
