ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA Division 3 baseball team hosted Oakland University for a Sunday doubleheader at Nicolay Field. The Bulldogs claimed a 5-4 victory in game one, while game two was suspended in the third inning due to weather.
Adrian opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning, but Oakland responded with four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Bulldogs answered in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from Sam Sipe and an RBI single from Connor Davies to cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Bulldogs evened the score in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Nate Linder before Davies delivered the game-winning hit, a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh, to secure the 5-4 win.
Adrian finished with eight hits in the game, including multi-hit performances from Dakota Clift and Davies, who each recorded two hits. On the mound, Tyler Clement earned the start, tossing 6.2 innings while allowing four runs on four hits and striking out six.
In game two, Adrian jumped out to a 6-1 lead before the contest was suspended in the third inning due to rain. The game will be completed at a later date.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 8-6 on the season. Adrian returns to action at home on Saturday, March 28, hosting Hillsdale College for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
