OLIVET, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's volleyball team picked up a key MCVL win on Thursday night, defeating Olivet in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 25-17) at the Cutler Event Center.
Adrian improves to 11-11 overall and 3-4 in conference play with the victory, while Olivet drops to 5-18 (0-7 MCVL).
The Bulldogs were led by a balanced offensive attack, with Sam Landers pacing the squad with 15 kills, while Dominic Rees added 13 kills on an efficient .300 hitting percentage. Marc Solans chipped in eight kills, and David Cauley contributed six.
Setters Andrew Graczyk and Logan Bender orchestrated the offense effectively, combining for 39 assists, with Graczyk dishing out a team-high 23. Defensively, Adrian totaled 43 digs, led by Rolen Maclin with 10, while Graczyk and Cauley each added six.
The opening set featured a tightly contested battle, with 14 tie scores. Adrian pulled away late behind timely kills from Landers and Rees to secure the 25-23 win. Olivet responded in the second set, capitalizing on Bulldog errors to even the match with a 25-19 victory.
The pivotal third set saw Adrian regain momentum in another close frame. Trailing late, the Bulldogs rallied and edged the Comets 26-24, taking a 2-1 match lead. Adrian then carried that energy into the fourth set, hitting .321 as a team and cruising to a 25-17 win to close out the match.
At the service line, Carson Bell made an impact with a team-high four aces, while Adrian also recorded eight total blocks as a team effort at the net.
The Bulldogs will look to build on the win as they continue conference play Friday, April 3 at Mount Union at 7:00 PM.
