ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College baseball team earned another MIAA sweep on Friday, taking both games of a road doubleheader against Trine University. The Bulldogs claimed game one, 11-1, before completing the sweep with a 9-0 win in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Trine took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
- Adrian responded with a run on a fielder's choice in the third, then added two more in the fourth on an RBI double from Jaxon McGuigan and an RBI single from Casey Finn for a 3-1 advantage.
- The Bulldogs scored again in the seventh on another fielder's choice.
- In the eighth inning, Adrian added two runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 6-1.
- The Bulldogs broke it open in the ninth with five more runs on an RBI double from McGuigan, a sacrifice bunt from Logan Klotz, an RBI double from Jack Boike, and a sacrifice fly from Brendan Willadsen.
- Adrian totaled 18 hits in the opener, led by four from Rolando Jimenez, three from McGuigan, and two each from Willadsen, Nic Bruder, Gabe Jones, and Boike.
- Ambrose Horwath earned his seventh win of the season, tossing seven innings and allowing one run on six hits while striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Jimenez gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a single to center field.
- In the third, Jake Burns and Jones each drove in a run with sacrifice flies to make it 3-0.
- Bruder added an RBI double in the fourth, and Jimenez singled home another run in the seventh for a 5-0 lead.
- Adrian added four more runs in the eighth on an RBI single from Jones, an RBI double from Braxton Bermes, and a two-run single from Aiden Melvin to make it 9-0.
- Trine loaded the bases in the ninth, but the Bulldogs stranded all three runners to preserve the shutout.
- Adrian finished with 15 hits in game two, paced by four from Bruder and three each from Jimenez and Jones.
- Parker Faris improved to 5-0 on the season after throwing seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out nine.

The Bulldogs return to action at home on Tuesday, April 21, for a non-conference matchup against Manchester University. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
