McNamara’s Eight Goals Not Enough as Men's Lacrosse's Season Comes to an end in MIAA Quarterfinals

ALBION, Mich. — Despite a huge offensive effort from Braeden McNamara, the Adrian College men's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end with a 19-14 loss to Albion in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Adrian finishes the season at 3-15 overall, while Albion advances to the semifinal round with a 13-6 mark.

The Bulldogs came out firing, building a 4-3 lead after the opening quarter behind a hat trick from McNamara. The senior attacker continued his dominant day throughout the contest, finishing with a game-high eight goals on 14 shots to lead all scorers.

The second quarter featured a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to gain separation. Adrian capitalized on extra-man opportunities, converting three times in the period, including goals from Alec Winegar and Austin Selvage. McNamara added two more scores in the quarter, including a late tally off a feed from Trace Tidswell, giving Adrian a narrow 9-8 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs maintained momentum into the third, extending their lead to as much as 14-12 following another McNamara goal with 22 seconds remaining in the frame. Adrian's offense remained efficient, scoring five times in the quarter, with Selvage and Tidswell each contributing.

However, Albion flipped the script in the fourth quarter. The Britons outscored Adrian 7-0 in the final 15 minutes, sparked by Luke Schuemann, who matched McNamara with eight goals on the day. Albion's offense found another gear while holding the Bulldogs scoreless, pulling away late to secure the 19-14 victory.

Selvage added three goals and an assist for Adrian, while Tidswell recorded two goals and one assist. Winegar contributed four points with a goal and three assists.

Defensively, Adrian goalkeeper Josiah Karnehm made 16 saves in the loss. The Bulldogs finished 5-for-6 on extra-man opportunities, but were outshot 45-42 and lost the ground ball battle 32-26.

That will conclude the Bulldogs 2026 season.
