LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Alysia Townsend of the Adrian College track and field team headed out to La Crosse, Wisconsin for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship where she represented Adrian in the long jump event.Â
Behind a podium-worthy performance on the national stage, Townsend earned All-American honors with an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump event. Townsend posted a top mark of 5.73 meters (18-9 ¾) on her third and fourth attempts to secure eighth place overall and score a point for the Bulldogs. The sophomore opened the competition with a jump of 5.71 meters (18-8 ¾) before recording marks of 5.53m, 5.73m, 5.73m, 5.55m, and 5.65m throughout the finals.
She is the first outdoor track and field All-American in program history since 2021 and first female outdoor track and field All-American since 2019.Â
