Pelton Scores as Men’s Soccer Falls to DePauw

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's soccer team opened its home schedule with a 3-1 loss to DePauw University on Sunday afternoon at Docking Stadium. The Bulldogs moved to 0-2 on the season.

DePauw generated eight shots during the opening half, but goalkeeper Eli Sizemore and the Adrian defense kept the match scoreless. Sizemore made five first-half saves, while the Bulldogs added a team save late in the period to send the match into halftime tied 0-0.

Adrian created more opportunities after the break, recording its first shot in the 54th minute before Carter Kerbawy added an attempt in the 63rd. DePauw broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 65th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs answered in the 71st minute when Jack Pelton found the back of the net for Adrian's first goal of the season. Kerbawy recorded the assist on the equalizer to make it a 1-1 match.

DePauw responded with the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute. Nikolai Zacharko placed a shot on goal in the 77th minute, but Adrian was unable to equalize for a second time. DePauw added an insurance goal in the 87th minute to secure the 3-1 victory.

Sizemore finished with five saves in goal for the Bulldogs. DePauw held a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.

Adrian will remain home to face Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, September 9 at 4 p.m. at Docking Stadium.
