BRIGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced its Athlete of the Week awards on Monday afternoon. Four Adrian College Bulldogs were recognized with weekly honors, including Michael Brown and Cooper Tracy of the football team, Rachel Fay of the women's golf team, and Bri Aikens of the women's soccer team.
Brown was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for football following Adrian's 17-10 victory over Ohio Northern. Brown finished the game with five total tackles, including three solo stops. In the second half, he intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown to help secure the victory. He also broke up two passes and forced a fumble.
Tracy earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors following his performance in the Bulldogs' season opener. The All-American punter recorded nine punts for 377 yards, averaging 41.9 yards per punt. His longest punt traveled 61 yards, while two punts went for more than 50 yards and four landed inside the 20-yard line.
Aikens was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer after competing in three matches, including two starts. She recorded two goals on three shots, with two of her attempts landing on goal. One of her goals was a game-winner, helping the Bulldogs open the season with a 2-0-1 record. Aikens also helped anchor an Adrian defense that has allowed just two goals while recording a shutout through the first three matches.
Fay was named the MIAA Women's Golfer of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a second-place finish in a 12-team field at Medalist Golf Club. Fay earned individual medalist honors in the 76-player field, shooting a 75 in the opening round before firing a 71 in the second round to finish one under par for the day. Her round of 71 and two-day total of 146 established Adrian program records for the best 18-hole and 36-hole scores in program history.
