Biography
Entering the Season: Third year with the program...chose Adrian College because of the good reputation in academics, welcoming faculty and athletic programs...cites helping the team get a championship as an athletic goal...will vie for more playing time.
2015-16 (Sophomore Year): Had a career-year that included 4.0 points per game, 23 games played, 13 assists and 14 steals...scored a career-high 14 points (5-7 FG, 2-4 3FG) in the Feb. 20 season finale at Olivet...dished a career-best four assists and scored 13 points in a 76-70 win over Hanover on Nov. 21...also made first career start against the Panthers.
2014-15 (Freshman Year): Played in five games...made her collegiate debut on Nov. 15 season opener at Wooster.
Who has been the Biggest Influence on Me as an Athlete and Why?: "My papa because he always would tell me to never give up and if I didn't like something, don't be afraid to try a different sport. He attends all of my games and he always says don't do it unless you love it.
What is your career goal?: "Be a registered nurse."
High School: Attended Detroit County Day School in Beverly Hills, Mich....four-year letterwinner on the girls' basketball team under Coach Frank Orlando....helped squad to regional and district titles all four years…extra-curricular activities included Yearbook and Community Service clubs...attended the Global Youth Leadership Institute...has a summer job with her city...also on cheer squad for two years...graduated cum laude in 2014...played Amateur Athletic Union-basketball for the Michigan Monarchs, winning the Battle of the Border.
Personal: Majoring in exercise science…born Mariah Janee Jackson on July 15, 1996 in Lathrup Village, Mich....daughter of Anthony and Cindy Jackson...mother graduated from Davenport University...Favorites: athletes--Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant; sports team--NBA's Los Angeles Lakers; books--The Hunger Games series; musicians--Future, Beyoncé and Trey Songz; TV shows--Empire, Power and Friends; foods--shrimp, steak and crab legs; movies--Remember the Titans, Southpaw and Think like a Man; author--Suzanne Collins...enjoys shopping and playing basketball.
