ADRIAN, Mich. - One night after a convincing 9-1 win by the Adrian College men's ice hockey team, Potsdam put their foot down and regained some pride with a 6-4 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday evening from Arrington Ice Arena. The opening weekend in the school's hockey history ended on a bit of a sour note but not before the Bulldogs made a fierce rally in the final period and a half after being down 4-0 at the 6:38 mark of the second period.

Potsdam converted on some quality scoring chances in the first period against goaltender Bryan Scott. The Bears scored at the 2:54 mark on a power play goal by Brandon Cribari and just 1:03 later went up 2-0 on another power play goal which was scored by Peter Vaisanen. Potsdam finished out the first period scoring with a Nick Carelli goal at the 15:53 mark.

Vaisanen scored his second goal of the night at the 6:38 mark of the second period which sent Scott to the bench in favor of Brad Fogal who started the inaugural game for Adrian on Friday night. Scott recorded five saves before exiting. Adrian began to chip into the lead and got going on an Eric Miller power play goal with an assist from Mike Towns at the 15:39 mark of the second period. The Bulldogs got a big boost with 14 seconds left to go in the period when Shawn Skelly put in a loose puck for his third goal of the year making it 4-2 at the second intermission.

Skelly's second goal of the night and fourth of the year got Adrian to within 4-3 at the 1:03 mark of the final period. The even strength goal was assisted by Mike Fiorillo and Matt Parkes. Potsdam regained their two-goal lead off a turnover in the neutral zone and they had a two-on-one break which Collin MacLennan finished off with a nice pass from Cribari to make it 5-3 at the 6:28 mark. Adrian used a five-on-three advantage at the 11:42 mark as Mike Dahlinger trickled the puck past the goal line with an assist from Miller. Adrian had another power play chance in the last five minutes but could get just one shot during the two-minute man advantage. Luke Beck sealed the win with an empty net goal with 24 seconds left in the game.

Rick Miller was terrific in net for Potsdam with 40 saves including 20 in the third period. Skelly led the Adrian offense with eight shots as the Bulldogs outshot Potsdam, 44-18. Potsdam was 3-for-10 on the power play while Adrian was 3-for-11.
