Adrian Cruises Past Albion Into MIAA Semifinals

ADRIAN, Mich. - It is on to the semifinals of the 2007 MIAA Tournament for Adrian College who disposed of Albion by the scores of 30-27, 30-28, 30-26 on Tuesday night in the first round of the tournament. The third-seeded Bulldogs will now advance to play the second-seed Flying Dutch of Hope College this Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Grand Rapids. Calvin College is the tournament's number one seed and will host the final four teams in the conference this weekend. Adrian and Hope split the season series with each team winning on their home court. Adrian was a 3-1 winner on September 25 while Hope was a 3-0 winner in Holland on October 23.

Senior Lindsey Eshelman had a rather steady match leading the team with 16 kills while hitting .417 for the match with just one attack error in 36 attempts. She also had seven digs and two block assists helping the Bulldogs to their third win over Albion in 2007. Junior Holly Pellegrin was the only other Bulldog in double figures with 10 kills. She hit .276 for the match and also chipped in four digs and one block assist.

Albion received a great effort from sophomore Morgan Watler who led all players with 22 kills and 20 digs. Albion hit .243 for the evening while Adrian held solid at .260 with 46 kills. Adrian held a 6-2 advantage at the net in total team blocks. Sara Morningstar had one block solo and four block assists. Adrian has won four of their last five matches against MIAA opponents heading into Friday's matchup.
