Men's Hoops Falls 86-46 at Division I Oakland University

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The game will not count towards the win-loss record for Adrian College but the men's basketball team gained valuable experience in an 86-46 loss at Division I Oakland on Sunday afternoon from the "O" Rena. The contest was an exhibition for the Bulldogs but did count for the Grizzlies who moved to 1-1 overall.

The game was tied four times in the first six minutes of the game before Oakland flexed its muscle. The Grizzlies went on a 12-0 run to build a 20-8 advantage at the 11:02 mark of the first half. Adrian could not cut into the lead and trailed 41-19 at the break. The Bulldogs shot 25.9 percent in the first half and were 3-of-8 from behind the arc.

Oakland built a lead of 44 points in the second half on two occasions and Adrian never got the lead under 20 points in the final 20 minutes. Adrian was stone cold in the second half from behind the arc going 0-of-14. However, they were accurate from the charity stripe going 11-of-12. Junior Desmond Young led Adrian in scoring with 17 points going 5-of-14 from the field and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Michael Sutton and Corey Smith each chipped in six points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs open up their season by hosting the John Dawson Tournament this weekend. The games will be Friday at 6 and 8 pm and Saturday at 2 and 4 pm from the Merillat Center.
