Bulldogs Cruise to 85-54 Win at winless Oberlin College

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Adrian College men's basketball team went through a rough patch at the beginning of last season going winless in their first eight contests. They have had a reversal of fortune this season improving to 4-1 with an 85-54 win at Oberlin College who is a carbon copy of Adrian last season falling to 0-6 overall.

The offense was spot-on from the opening tip and pushed the ball on the fast break all afternoon. Adrian had 10 points on the fast break and allowed zero to Oberlin. When not getting easy baskets, it was good shooting that led to a comfortable win. Adrian shot 49.2 percent for the game and were 11-of-25 from beyond the arc. In addition, the Bulldogs were 10-of-17 from the foul line which was 12 percent lower than their season average.

Freshman guard Dwight VanHoesen converted 7-of-10 shots from the field and was 5-of-8 from the arc. VanHoesen scored a season-high 19 points in 24 minutes and led the team in scoring. Senior guard Ryan Gallus was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor and made one free throw for a total of nine points to go with three boards and five assists in 25 minutes. Senior forward Ian Weber continues to hit the glass with 10 rebounds including four on the offensive end.

Senior guard Corey Smith came off the bench to score 13 points and was 3-of-6 from deep. Smith also had two steals in just 16 minutes. Sophomore guard Jacob Green chipped in a season-high 10 points and four boards in 13 minutes. Freshman forward Michael Sutton also had a season-high with 11 points and three steals in 16 minutes.

Adrian had a 35-7 advantage in points off turnovers and also had a 25-8 spread in second chance points. Adrian held a substantial 40-20 edge in rebounding and had an incredible 22 offensive rebounds.
