ALLIANCE, Ohio--The Adrian College volleyball team fell short in their bid to win the Purple Raider Volleyball Invitational hosted by Mount Union College on Saturday.
The Bulldogs won their first three matches to earn the right to play the host Mount Union for the championship. AC first defeated Gettysburg 3-1 by scores of 30-23, 26-30, 30-25, 30-26 and John Carroll in five games, 30-27, 30-21, 26-30, 26-30, 15-10 in pool play. The Bulldogs then handed Geneva a 3-0 loss 30-20, 30-23, 30-27 to make it to the championship match.
Against the host Raiders, the Bulldogs were defeated 3-0 by scores of 30-27, 30-23, 30-22.
Sara Morningstar and Courtney Smith both earned All-Tournament honors for their performances over the weekend.
Adrian, now 3-1, opens up conference play on Tuesday, September 4 when they host Saint Mary's College at 7 p.m.
