Stats

ADRIAN, Mich. - The secret to road success in any sport is limiting your mistakes and taking advantage of your opponents. Adrian College is still trying to learn from their road woes but just can't seem to get over the hump as they dropped a 70-61 decision at Albion on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs saw their road record slip to 1-7 on the season including 0-3 in the MIAA as they could not get enough stops on the defensive end in critical situations. Adrian is allowing 73.8 points and 48.3 percent shooting on the road this season and have been lackluster at the free throw line shooting 57.7 percent. In fact, their opponents have made more free throws (118) than they have attempted (97).

Adrian can look forward to two straight home games as they attempt to get back into the top tier of the MIAA standings. The Bulldogs are now 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference with Alma College coming to town on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Two unlikely heroes emerged for Albion in this one as D.J. Mocini and Andy Reule both notched career-highs in the scoring column. Mocini had a perfect night shooting the ball going 5-of-5 from the field (2-of-2 3's) and 4-of-4 at the foul line for 16 points. He also had seven assists and two turnovers in 23 minutes. Reule led Albion with 18 points going 8-of-10 from the floor including 2-of-3 from the arc. He grabbed five boards and recorded a steal in 21 minutes.

Albion shot 54.7 percent overall and were 6-of-12 from the arc. Adrian did a fine job shooting 45 percent but were just 1-of-5 at the line. Both squads had 31 rebounds as senior forward Ian Weber corraled 12 boards. He has recorded 10 or more rebounds in five straight games and a dozen overall this season. Desmond Young led all scorers with 22 points putting him over the 20-point plateau for the fifth time in 2007-08. Young was 11-of-21 from the floor and grabbed three boards in 36 minutes. Freshman guard Dwight VanHoesen scored in double figures for the first time in nine games with 14 points including four triples in six tries. Senior guard Ryan Gallus came off the bench to score 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting in 29 minutes.
