Bulldogs Enjoy 3-1 Homecoming Win over Albion

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College volleyball team climbed back to the .500 mark on Saturday morning with a 3-1 win over visiting Albion College. The Bulldogs and Britons split the first two sets and Adrian used a quick start in the third set to move to 6-2 before an Albion timeout. The Bulldogs scored seven of the next eight points building a 13-3 lead before another Briton timeout. Albion cut the lead to 17-13 but could not get any closer as Adrian won the set, 25-17.

The final set was close throughout as the teams were tied four times. The teams were deadlocked at 22-22 after an attack error by Albion's Emilee Goralski and Adrian won the next two points on a kill by Holly Pellegrin and a service ace by Samantha Mercy. Mary Rinke closed out the match with a big kill to move Adrian to 9-9 overall and 5-5 in the MIAA.

Jenny Carlson led Adrian with 14 kills and also had five digs. Pellegrin added 11 kills, five digs and four block assists. Valerie Smith tallied 10 kills and a .261 attack percentage. Adrian hit .160 for the match and had a total of 54 kills. Albion falls to 11-9 overall and 4-5 in the league. They hit .122 with a total of 42 kills. Natalie Niblock registered 38 assists, six kills and 14 digs.
