All Starters Shine in 79-74 Overtime Win at Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The men's basketball team claimed a 79-74 overtime victory at Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon completing the season sweep of the Hornets. The Bulldogs got contributions from all five starters in the scoring column as they each went for double digits. Desmond Young led Adrian with 22 points while shooting 8-of-17 from the floor and 6-of-7 at the foul line in 43 minutes. Young also had five rebounds and three assists. Senior Ian Weber had a fine game with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Dwight VanHoesen scored 15 points and grabbed three boards. Brett Asher scored 12 points and dished out four assists in 35 minutes. Ryan Gallus chipped in 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Adrian shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) and scored 42 points in the paint. The Bulldogs were 18-of-28 (.643) at the free throw line and were 4-of-5 in overtime. Kalamazoo shot 47.5 percent (28-of-59) and got 31 points off their bench. Henry McCain went for a game-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting in 32 minutes off the bench. The Hornets went 14-of-19 (.737) at the line and were 1-of-2 in overtime.

Adrian concludes the regular season with a 10-14 overall record and a 5-9 mark in the conference. The Bulldogs will be the fifth-seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament. AC travels to fourth-seeded Tri-State University on Wednesday, February 27 in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals with the tip set for 7:30 p.m.
