ADRIAN, Mich. - It might have taken some time for the Bulldog offense to click on Tuesday, but once it did, the Adrian College softball team scored eleven unanswered runs to sweep the series with Concordia University (Mich.) at the Adrian College softball field.

The Bulldogs tied the game at 1-1 after one complete in the first game when Krissy Sheets scored on a Holly Lowe double down the left field line. The Cardinals plated a pair of runs in the top of the third inning to put the pressure on the Bulldogs.

In the top of the sixth, however, the Bulldogs responded by sending eight batters to the dish and scoring three runs to take the 4-3 lead. Carly Toth led off the inning with a single down the left field line. Erica Fracassa followed up with a bunt single that went between the pitcher and the third baseman. Two batters later, Kristin Toney picked up the Bulldogs' third single of the inning to load the bases for Katie Adams. Adams took advantage of the situation by singling to left field to plate Toth. With two outs and the bases still loaded, Carmen Batway came through in the clutch as she singled to left center field, which allowed Fracassa and Toney to score the tying and game-winning runs.

Kelly Tomasek picked up the game-one win from the circle by striking out three over seven complete innings of work. It is the first time this season that the Bulldogs have come back from a deficit in the sixth inning to win the game.

In game two, the Bulldogs took control of the game from the first inning. Andrea Vangoss retired the side in order to open up the game before the Bulldogs sent eight to the plate in their second straight trip to the dish. Krissy Sheets and Carmen Batway both singled in their first trips to the plate in game two and would eventually score put Adrian up 2-0 after one inning.

Sheets scored again in the second on a Holly Lowe single to push the lead to 3-0. Batway would then score her second run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning during a run-down situation between first and second base.

Merissa Seefried came on to pinch run in the bottom of the fifth and would score from second base on a Krissy Sheets double to left-center field. The Bulldogs ended the game in the bottom half of the sixth inning when they plated three runs to mercy-rule the Cardinals. Holly Lowe (triple), Jenna Kloster (single), and Carly Toth (single) started off the inning with consecutive hits and would all score to complete the 8-0 win.

Vangoss needed little offensive support on the day. The senior surrendered the only hit of the day with two outs in the top of the fifth inning. The Cardinals would get one base runner safely to third in the course of the game, but Vangoss and company would not allow a run in the game for the team's third shut-out victory on the year.

The Bulldogs (17-13) will play their third consecutive home doubleheader on Wednesday when they host Spring Arbor University. Game one will begin at 3:30 at the Adrian College softball field.
