The volleyball team played a very close match on Tuesday night at Alma and nearly pulled one out leading 2-1 before dropping the final two sets including a 21-19 fifth set. It does not get any closer as Adrian claimed a 29-27 first set win while Alma took the second set 25-23. Adrian led 2-1 with a 25-20 third set win but could not close out the Scots who won the fourth set 25-16 and the final set 21-19.
Adrian (6-7, 2-3) was looking to snap a four-match skid while Alma improved to 13-5 overall. Kim Gillhespy led everyone with 27 kills and hit .379 for the match. Jenny Carlson led the Bulldogs with 19 kills and also added seven digs and four block assists.
Holly Pellegrin added 11 kills, eight digs and six total blocks. She hit .219 for the match on 32 attacks. Samantha Mercy had a career-high 44 digs and two service aces for Adrian. Natalie Niblock recorded 41 assists and a career-high 23 digs with six kills and a .300 attack percentage.
Courtney Sellers registered 10 kills and a career-high 24 digs. Adrian hit .147 in the five-set match while Alma hit .231.
