Men's Basketball Defeats Hornets 72-69

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's basketball team battled Kalamazoo for all forty minutes to earn a 72-69 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Merillat Center. Desmond Young scored a game-high 20 points. Young has now scored over 1,000 career points as a Bulldog.

Adrian got off to a great start. The Bulldogs made their first nine shots from the floor to open up a seven point lead five minutes into the game. Kalamazoo came back to tie the score at the 12 minute mark with a jumper from A.J. Williams.

Young regained the lead for Adrian, and the Bulldogs would keep the lead going into halftime 34-33.

The game remained tight throughout the entire second half. Kalamazoo opened up their largest lead of the game, 59-54 with 5:27 left to play. Matt Wayne gave Adrian the lead by hitting a pair of free throws with four minutes to play and the Bulldogs didn't look back as Young guided the team to victory from the free throw line. Adrian is now 2-0 in the MIAA Conference.

Brett Asher made an impact on the game by scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Asher was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. Wayne connected on all three of his shots and also made four free throws to total ten points.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Jan. 14th with a match-up against Calvin at 8:00 p.m.
